Final Standards for
Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information

§ 164.534 Compliance dates for initial implementation of the privacy standards.

1. Health care providers. A covered health care provider must comply with the applicable requirements of this subpart no later than February 26, 2003.
2. Health plans. A health plan must comply with the applicable requirements of this subpart no later than the following date, as applicable:
   
   
   1. Health plans other than small health plans – February 26, 2003.
   2. Small health plans – February 26, 2004.

3. Health care clearinghouses. A health care clearinghouse must comply with the applicable requirements of this subpart no later than February 26, 2003.
